About Us

In 1941, a few members of the Kutchi community migrated to Pune and
settled here. As they were few in number and spread out over the city,
they thought of starting – A Poona Kutchi Mitra Mandal, whereby,
everyone would come together on a common platform for meeting and
interacting with each other regularly. As the number gradually started
increasing, this organization was changed to Shri Kutchi Kala Kendra
in 1956, to encompass larger cultural activities, wherein, besides
social get-together, cultural programmes began to be organised. The
participation and involvement of a large number of members of the
community also increased. In 1975, a separateShri Poona Kutchi Jain
Mahila Mandal was established to enable women folk to also participate
in such cultural and social activities/programmes, etc.

With further growth in the community it was felt necessary to register
the Association and in 1980, it began to be known as Shri Poona Kutchi
Jain Samaj. Under its aegis, several additional cultural programmes
began to be held, involving the student community in which picnics,
Dandia Ras, Fun fairs etc. began to be organised. As more and more
youth began to get involved and participate in social activities, Shri
Poona Kutchi Jain Yuva Mandal came into being, which further increased
the scope of social activities and educational programmers etc.
